Wake Up! “Chop Suey!” Hits 2 Billion Streams on Spotify

Existing in the metal spotlight for over two decades, System Of A Down’s 2001 anthem “Chop Suey!” has officially crossed the 2 billion stream milestone on Spotify.

A track defined by its erratic time signatures, operatic mood swings, insanely cryptic lyrics, and nu-metal riffs isn’t just surviving in this “new” streaming era- it’s absolutely crushing it.

Orginally released in August 2001 as the lead single for their 6 time platinum album, Toxicity, “Chop Suey!” faced an uphill battle. It was released mere weeks before 9/11 and was placed on a list of “politically sensitive” songs which banned it from being played on mainstream radio.

Nonetheless, it became a generational gateway into heavy music.
